A lot of people did a crazy amount of work. For me, I figured it was a purely visual thing so I pulled the wheels, used an old toothbrush to clean them up with brake cleaner, and then used sponge brushes and Rustoleum red paint from Home Depot to brush it on. The first coat I put on thin and then do two very heavy (to the point that they drip, you just have to clean up the runs while it's still wet) and they last forever.

You didn't need to use High Heat paint dave? I'm with you, just going for the look aspect of it.

i used the 18.00 kit from advance auto, but like dave said its purely visual. i left mine on, cleaned them with the supplied cleaner, masked them off, and then painted 4 coats with the brush. not a bad job at all. the duplicolor kit will have everything you need. and enough paint to do 4 vehicles.
